Rory Hejtmanek (American, b. 1987) is an artist whose work explores issues of family, identity, gender, and belonging through fine-art documentary photography. He received his BFA in Documentary Photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California (2011).

Currently based near Austin, Texas, Hejtmanek has exhibited throughout the country, most recently in The Peoples’ Gallery at Austin City Hall.  He was recently awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2019 International Photography Awards (IPA).

As a transgender man, living in a family-built cooperative, in a rural community, Hejtmanek’s photographs reflect a continual exploration of gender and belonging, as well as a fascination with family, both given and chosen.
